BSI Iceland is now able to offer approval of all automatic weighing machines and non-automatic weighing instruments up to a maximum capacity of 3,000 kg under HMS mandate. 

Why legalization?

According to laws and regulations, it is compulsory to legalize instruments under which a product is sold.

Certifying operational measuring instruments is protecting consumers and thereby creating trust in business

To see if a measuring instrument is certified, you can check if there is an approval label on them. The label is perforated through a year and a number representing the monthn to indicate the end of the validation period. That means that gholes through 8 and 2023 mean that the period expires at the end of August 20.  

Which instruments are required to be approved?

Shop scales, self-service scales, fish processing scales, meat processing scales, harbour scales, flow meters, pumps, electricitymeters, water meters, etc  

Approvals are carried out in accordance with regulations:

· On metrological control of non-automatic weighing machines No 254/2009.

· On metrological control of automatic weighing machines no. 253/2009.
